The word Iwooket is derived from Amharic (Ethiopian) Language and it means Knowledge in English. Iwooket is a bilingual Media, established in 2010 in order to contribute in diminishing biased information and to be a voice for marginalised voiceless people.

Taking into consideration research and informal discussions with different people, Iwooket believes that inappropriate use of information can confuse people and further negatively affect the sharing, teaching and learning process.

Biased or inaccurate information can be improved by participating the wider communities in collecting and disseminating information. In order to involve ordinary people in Business, teaching and learning, iwooket accepts equal opportunity and participation as essential ingredients.
